Deflation in Sweden

In March 2014, negative annual rates were observed in Bulgaria (-2.0%), Greece (-1.5%), Cyprus -0.9%), Portugal and Sweden (both -0.4%), Spain and Slovakia (both -0.2%) and Croatia (-0.1%).

Unemployment in the EU: Sweden small regional variations and low long-term unemployment

In the EU28 in 2013, the lowest shares of long-term unemployed were recorded in six Swedish regions: Övre Norrland (12.4%), Mellersta Norrland (13.1%), Norra Mellansverige (16.3%), Västsverige (17.2%), Småland med öarna (17.3%) and Stockholm (17.5%).

London, 5 Feb 2014‑‑Despite the global financial crisis, most emerging markets have continued to make progress since 2007 in their bid to escape the ‘middle income trap’, according to PwC’s new ESCAPE index.

Central and Eastern European countries such as Poland, Romania and Russia have shown particularly strong rises since 2000. The advanced economies as a whole have fallen back since the global financial crisis hit in 2007, with the notable exception of Australia.
